THEATRE photographers' dispute with the Royal Shakespeare Company over fees, copyright and artistic control shows no sign of resolution, and the company refuses to show a copy of the proposed contract.

The RSC is proposing a £1000 flat fee for all rights in pictures. Support is now being mobilised though Gwen Thomas of the Association of Photographers, who has written to the artistic director of the RSC and expressed her displeasure in no uncertain terms.

An RSC spokesperson responded that: "In seeking modern and efficient working practice, the RSC is offering contracts to its freelance production photographers which are already widely accepted right across the entertainment industry." The Freelance responds in a related genre: "Oh no they aren't!"
