THE Venerable David Gerrard, Archdeacon of Wandsworth, proposes that the Church of England should trademark its churches and cathedrals, the British Journal of Photography reports. The National Trust already claims (but...) to have trademarked its properties and landscapes, granting photographers permission for shots for one-time use, inviting them to lodge pix with the Trust Library and forbidding their placement in other libraries.

While not wildly enthusiastic on public interest grounds about the next logical step of Bishops (and actresses) trademarking themselves, the Freelance keenly anticipates the resulting God vs Rupert lawsuit over unauthorised re-use...
