M-Press impress

The journalist who was offered a very strange contract by M-Press now has a more sensible one. Managing Director Martin Preston, clearly having read the piece in the last Freelance, points out that the contract was written by his client, the US publisher IMD. It demanded, among other things, a guarantee that the work submitted not break the laws of any country. There are more than 250 distinct jurisdictions.

The journalist had been offered the work through a friend -- who turned out not to have read the contract, and is now writing in changes and crossing out clauses, and he in turn has contacted two more contributors "Moral: read the contract before you sign. Amazing how many people forget to do something so obvious."
