Rights for staff

COPYRIGHT isn't just for freelances. Even in the Netherlands it's worth money - and that's the only country in Europe, except the UK and Ireland, where staff journalists don't have full rights in their work.

The Dutch journalists' union has negotiated a deal which gives a 0.5 per cent salary uplift to staff members, in return for collective permission to post articles on newspapers' own websites. Drop this into conversation with staffers when you can! (And point put that it's the principle that's better than nothing and the number is a challenge for them to beat...)
