BOOK
BRANCH

"There may have been doubts expressed over the years about whether Book Branch members were journalists or not. There have never been any doubts that we are trade unionists..."

Welcome to the NUJ's Book Branch

The Book Branch is one of the National Union of Journalists' biggest groupings and is fully represented on the NUJ's National Executive Council, the Industrial Councils and at the Annual Delegate Meeting. Book Branch's fulltime officer is John Foster, also known as the General Secretary of the Union.

Book Branch celebrated its 25th birthday in 1998. It was formed in 1973 from the division of the Union's Book & Magazine Branch into, not surprisingly, the Book Branch and the Magazine Branch. The membership is now nearing the one thousand mark and is still expanding.
