Photographer Pete Jenkins has prepared a spreadsheet that calculates what day rate you need to charge just to break even, before you bother with fripperies like food and a roof.
Enter the costs of your equipment and how often it will need replaced, and read off the day rate depending on the number of days per week you can expect to be out there snapping, rather than indoors reading this.
It's a spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel™ format.
We may reproduce it as an online form eventually - but it'd be fairly tedious to fill out.
