Hacks' last resort

The Newspaper Press Fund is the fund for journalists. It is their oldest organisation and their principal charity. The fund was established in 1864 to assist journalists and their families; it was granted a Royal Charter in 1890, and continues to provide effective relief for those in need. The Press Fund offers help in times of sickness, unemployment, misfortune and old age and operates a care home in Dorking.

Life membership is open to UK and Irish journalists under 60 and costs £50. Contact:
