Junus Kathair celebrates his release
IRAQI freelance cameraperson Junus Kathair celebrates his release from Abu Ghraib prison, with his new wife, in the video-capture above. His colleague and London Freelance member Michael Burke told the June meeting that when Junus was imprisoned - in the notorious Baghdad prison that the Saddam Hussein régime had sent him to twice - her family told her to forget him for her own sake. As we see, he survived. The day after his release, he calmly went back to demand the cash which he says US guards had retained. He has some very interesting stories to tell about life in the notorious jail - including a report that 17 prisoners were shot on the first day of the Ramadan festival. More soon... and he thanks all who worked for his release.
