The Metropolitan pollice have informed the NUJ of the numbers to call if you're a journalist having difficulty
covering events in London - specifcially the Camp for Climate Action 2009 from 26 August to 2 September and the Notting Hill Carnival on 30-31 August. These numbers are only for the use of journalists: there's little the NUJ can do to enforce this, but if you call them you are reporting yourself to the police.
Media wanting to get updated information or to request an interview about the policing operations for either the Camp for Climate Action (Operation Bentham) or the Notting Hill Carnival should contact the 24 Hour Press Bureau at New Scotland Yard on 020 7230 2171.
Holders of the UK Press Card:
A dedicated phone line for holders of the UK Press Card who are experiencing problems on the ground: contact 07 917 556 824 to speak to a press officer who will assist them in resolving the situation.
This number will be 24 hours and will be staffed from Wednesday 26 August 2009. Please note this facility is unable to handle formal complaints.
