Journalists in Libya in Egypt

LFB meeting at House of Commons - 11/04/11

LONDON Freelance Branch is holding a parliamentary event on Wednesday 11 May looking at the role of journalists in Libya and Egypt.

Panelists include Jacky Rowland (Al-Jazeera), Bill Neely (international editor, ITV News), Jonathan Rugman (Channel 4 News foreign affairs correspondent), Khaled Hroub (director, University of Cambridge's Arab Media Project), Stephanie Brancaforte (NGO worker distributing satellite modems and telephones to journalists in eastern Libya, Egypt, Yemen and Bahrain) and - to be confirmed - Ian Black (Guardian Middle East editor). Our hosts are Alex Cunningham MP, John Cryer MP and Paul Flynn MP. For more information email padraig.belton@gmail.com.

It's in Committee Room 8 at the House of Commons from 7-9 pm: do get there in plenty of time to join the long queue to empty your pockets and have your laptop put through a scanner by security.

This is in addition to the regular LFB May meeting on Monday 9 May on copyright and the Hargreaves review, which is also at the House of Commons this month (only). See here for details of this other meeting.
