Work-a-thon

There may still be time to register for the "Work-a-Thon for the Self-Employed", an attempt to set a world record for the most self-employed people working together (on their own individual projects) in the same place at the same time, over the course of a normal 9-to-5 day.

The Work-a-Thon aims combat the isolation of working alone. Forming part of the Two Degrees Festival of "art and activism", its supporters include the Writers' Guild.

It seems to entail turning up with your usual work kit - such as laptop, notebook, phone and possibly camera, we would imagine - and doing a normal day's work, except there will be several hundred others with you doing the same or similar. It's at Toynbee Studios, 28 Commercial St, Aldgate, London E1 6AB (nearest Tube Aldgate East). You'll need to register (info@selfemployed.me.uk) and commit to being at work at the venue from 9am-5pm on the day, which is Monday 13 June. Further details are here.
