Women’s conference 2012

THE NUJ will be holding its bi-annual women's conference on Saturday 23 June at 11am in Headland House, London. Following on from our successful International Women's Day meeting on sexism in the media entitled "where are all the women?" we intend to look at sexism in in the workplace, covering the gender pay gap; discrimination against older women, particularly in broadcasting; maternity and flexible working issues; discrimination in redundancy situations; sexual harassment; glass ceilings; and online attacks on freelance female bloggers.

This year we also have a women's training day on the Friday before the conference, from 2pm, also at Headland House. Places on the training course will be limited to 20-25 women, allocated on a first-come basis. The session is intended for women members who want to learn more about the NUJ and who are reasonably new to activity.

The conference is open to all women NUJ members. We are hoping that all branches will delegate and sponsor at least one woman.

  • Register for the training session and the conference by email to Lena Calvert, lenac@nuj.org.uk.
