That was A Future That Works

NUJ General Secretary Michelle Stanistreet (above, left) with Matt Salusbury (centre) and NUJ National Executive Committee member Phil Sutcliffe (right) - both from the LFB committee - surrounded by billowing NUJ flags at the start of the TUC's A Future That Works march in Central London on Saturday 20 October.

The NUJ's turn-out was not the biggest - we were outnumbered by the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists - but a good time was had by all. One Italian music journalist with the NUJ contingent came very close to persuading a policeman - after a brief discussion about cuts to police budgets - to stop "supervising" the march and join us in the demo.

Shown below is the NUJ's Deputy General Secretary Barry Fitzpatrick (centre, holding white and green NUJ flag) in discussion with a colleague, with (to the left of Barry) Winnie the Pooh and Tigger too from the Transport Salaried Staffs' Association.
