Final deadline to order paper forms is 01/09/14

Tax time (again)

ARE YOU THINKING of sending in your 2013-2014 tax return on paper? Then you'll need to phone Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs and ask them to send you a paper tax return form, as filing your return online has long been the default position.

We understand that if your date of birth was in the 1930s or earlier, they may automatically send you a paper tax return.

It can then take three to four weeks for your blank paper tax return to arrive. You'll need to get your paper tax return in the post to arrive by 31 October or face heavy penalties. And HMRC no longer acknowledge receipt of paper tax returns.

If, however, you want to file your tax return online, you have until 31 January 2015. See our previous tax return advice, here.
