Defend Freedom of Information

Freedom of Information in the UK has won a reprieve after a campaign supported by the NUJ.

The Ministry of Justice announced on 25 October that it is scrapping plans to cripple the 2000 Act with charges and restrictions. Instead, the Ministry on the same day launched a consultation on whether to extend the Act to cover, for example, Public Finance Initiative (PFI) contractors and other tools of privatisation.

Please visit www.justice.gov.uk/publications/cp2707.htm to add your voice to that - the deadline is 1 February 2008.
